Re: Swim Ladder Question

Carl, I'm not at the boat but I can tell you that my '88 does NOT have that type configuration. Bottom rung/step is a full step (such as your 2 at the top). I believe the PO added that in order to make it easier to board the step platform (would extend deeper in the water). Actually, not a bad idea ...

Re: Boating checklist

There's a scientific formula regarding the "get a paddle" notation.
Has something to do with mass / energy applied = results.....

Think it goes...
Big Boat (10,500 or more pounds) divided by "mere human" = "don't even think about it!"

Re: Boating checklist

Suggested "add ons" to "before leaving dock" - Discuss with "crew" what lines will be let go first, second, last (depends on currents and wind) so there's no confusion - Any "spring lines" to be used (in a tight departure space?) set up? - blower on 5 minutes ...

Re: First Post, First Boat, 32' Sedan

David, To your depth question (and not to steal Ewrice's possible answer...) - It depends on your depth gauge. Allow me to explain. 1. All depth gauges measure the distance from the transducer to the bottom. 2. My 32' SB has a "draft" of 2'. This is the distance between the surface of the ...

Dinette parquet, looking for a section

A section of our dinette's parquet floor is missing one of the pieces (popped off when lifting the adjacent access panels fpr the AC pump/valve and I didn't notice ). It's possible it's down in the forward bilge but I haven't located it yet. It's likely it'll be "uggy". Anyone have a spare...

Re: Compression check on 318’s

Questions to all.... For those anticipating the purchase of a boat... 1. Have you enlisted the services of a reputable boat surveyor? For those having purchased/or would know first hand... 1. Does the survey of a boat NORMALLY include a check of engine compression / some other means of determining e...

Sharon and my prayers and thoughts are with you. Terrible news. There are words to say, but none that can "say" what a heart feels. Our deepest condolences... :(

Re: Fresh Water Holding Tank Pump

Joe, When I winterize my fresh water system, I basically empty the fresh water tank AND the hot water tank. I installed a valve in the "wine cellar" where the 2 tanks are located. I can then open the cold water tanks and drain them either into the forward bilge -OR- into a bucket. To ensur...
