Re: What to do?

You didn't make a mistake you started on an adventure. This forum had all of the information you will need but some of it went to old post heaven. Thats OK because some of us old farts don't mind telling a story over and over and over. The Chrysler engines want to run and so will run badly for a lon...

Re: Replacing 2 Chysler 318's

I went through an engine replacement and could write a book about it. A horror story. I studied long block suppliers and picked one out. The mechanic talked me into using his supplier. He put in in the hold and discovered it was the wrong rotation. They rebuilt the engine in the hold instead of on t...

Re: Need a strut

I got mine from John Althouse. He had the rights to the Marinette Brand . He had a lot of parts and jigs to make all the Marinette struts. A few years ago he had a bad stroke and his dad Tom was carrying on in a limited fashion. They had an account on this forum. Don't know the current status. They ...

Re: Nautolex - Original White w/Charcoal Stripes

Metalhead, I cut the old cockpit pieces out from the top put them together and made a nice 1/4" luan pattern. You only need one side - flip and you have the other. I made new pieces out of 5/8' outside rated plywood to avoid fitting issues. You don't need marine grade - the deck is flat. I took...

Re: Nautolex - Original White w/Charcoal Stripes

i bought a roll of that stuff to redo my boat 4 years go. I had the New 5/8" sprayed with bed liner instead. I'll take the stuff out of the original shipping roll and measure it. there is nothing on the outside of the package to tell me how much is there. Then I could offer it for sale somewher...

Re: Swim platform paint

I use interlux brightside with the non skid media. It is one part so no big health risks. You just roll it on keep it well mixed. No need to brush tip it off. very durable. Forget two part on top side stuff. I used it on the the roof deck under the flybridge because you need solid footing up there.

Re: Cleaning Interior Hull

I got a recipe for cleaning fluid off this site years ago. Get two 32 oz spray bottles put 1/2 inch of dawn, 1/4 inch of clorox, and a teaspoon of TSP in one fill with water, decant 1/2 into second bottle, fill both. Measurements are arbitrary. Vary them based on how the cleaner works on your job. W...

Re: Topside paint question

The interlux brightside is a one part topside coat. It is very durable. I had the original factory finish on my 32'. I power sanded it but I did not want to dig down to bright metal. Where I did cut to bright metal I immediately sprayed it with a can of etching primer. Bare aluminum will form a coat...

Re: Topside paint question

I bought some expensive HVLP spray equipment which is going on EBAY. I can't get the hang of it. I used interlux bright side rolled and tipped. I screwed up the first application -- rolled on way to thick and had to sand it down. I suggest rolling thin coats so the tipper just smooths it not push it...
