Re: Aft Deck Restoration

I am going to replace my deck on my 32' Sedan and new acquired 26' Express. I replaced my 32' in 2008 with marine plywood and covered with Nautolex. It is already getting spongy. I am done with wood. What I have considered 1 Aluminum decking Pros - will never rot Cons - noise transmission , mounting...

Re: Uneven engine power 318 starbord engine weak

I do have closed cooling. Did not noticed a difference in temperature. My gauges don't read accurate or equal usually 10 degrees off each other. I never had one run noticeably hot. But I have a aftermarket closed cooling my guess it is oversized.

Anti-fouling TriLux 33

I usually pull my 32 Sedan every winter. When I power wash the hull I blast off most of the anti-fouling paint. The TriLux 33 is a Ablative designed that way. I get tire of shelling out $300 plus back breaking labor to paint every year. Has anyone used a hard coat type of Anti-fouling? In fresh wate...

Re: Uneven engine power 318 starbord engine weak

This is an old topic I stared wanted to give an update. Last winter got tired of the starboard engine performance. It was an reman engine. I rebuilt the stock engine to put in there. I pulled both motors and replace the rear main and crank for leaking on the Port ( found rust pitts messed up seal )....

Re: Reverse Gear Problems Velvet Drive 1:1

I just finished rebuilding the transmission. It wasn't a terrible job. It will be a lot easer now that I have done one. The forward clutches were toast. It was caused by an internal leak and not holding enough pressure on the forward clutches. There were light rust marks on the piston seal area just...

Re: Flybridge plexi glass

Do not use Plexiglass ( Acrylic ) use Lexan. Lexan handles UV better. I think the generic term for Lexan is Polycarbonate??? It does not break as easy. It does cost more though. I went to a supplier called Piedmont Plastics. http://piedmontplastics.com/ They sold to me direct it was in 2009 I purcha...

Re: Uneven engine power 318 starbord engine weak

When I rebuilt the PORT and installed a reman in the STARBOARD I installed new Mallory marine distributors with Magnetic breaker less ignition, Mallory Coils , new plugs and wires. They now have 100hr them. Checked compression 125-135 PSI. Looked at the plugs OK. Triple checked the wires and firing ...

Re: Reverse Gear Problems Velvet Drive 1:1

It brings up another question. Is it hard on the transmission to "drag" it by running on other ONE. I am concerned about the planetary gears not getting lubed.

The lube I have in it is Chrysler Spec ATF. I am going to drain it and also remove the strainer to look for debris.

Uneven engine power 318 starbord engine weak

I have had a problem ever since I rebuild my boat. The starboard engine is weaker than the port. The Port engine I rebuilt. I had it bored to .30 over (because of cylinder rust). And had the valves dressed up. The starboard engine had been sitting for 6 years with water in the oil form a blown exhau...
