Re: Packing or Stuffing box

@ Metalhead....Did you ever find the rudder stuffing box hose in the 1 7/8" x 1 3/4" configuration? I have a 75 32' sedan slipped in Aquia, Virginia that is in dire need of new plastic stuffing boxes which I did find at a ski boat shop in La. The hose has been elusive...Thanks I replaced ...

Re: Marinette purchase advice

I've owned both an Express M and a Flybridge M. There are benefits to both configurations. Express / sedan : - gives you fast access to the aft deck and gunnels (In case the first mate needs some help docking) - It's a little more social; everyone is on the same level. - Seeing the aft corners while...

Re: Fuel Starvation

Have you tested the fuel pressure? It's a simple test with a vacuum / pressure gauge attached to the carb fuel line? Should be in the neighborhood of 5 PSI or higher. If pressure is low, work back in the system toward the tank. If pressure is ok, work toward the engine. Bill's diagnostics above cove...

Re: Oil Leakage

Recently saw a post from another person with same issue. Check your oil filter. A small pinhole can cause a large mess. The pin holes can come from a defect in the seam at the bottom plate joint. The oil pan bolts can come loose over time. Again, a small hole hole under 60-80 PSI causes a large mess...

Re: Waste tank/s setup question

I suggest you also look into the cost of an ElectroSan toilet setup. No pumping out required, just a small bag of ashes to be dropped in the trash. Jeff Jeff- I really like the ElectroSan system. Unfortunately, it is specified for discharge waterways. Lake Lanier is a non-discharge waterway "i...

Re: Waste tank/s setup question

Very nice Bill. You folks on here documenting in doing these detailed instructions is so very helpful:-). Did you leave the original holding tank in place and just abandon it? What is the original holding tanks location? Thanks again Bill- I have the same question. The previous owners left the mace...

Re: 440 oil pump prime

While researching cam replacement for solid tappet 318 / 360 small blocks, I ran across an oil priming requirement for 440s. You need to prime the oil pump using a drill or other motor. Otherwise, the motor will not generate oil pressure. Apparently, it will not self-prime. Since the engine sat for ...

Re: Heads for a 318

From my research, the heads to find are "302" castings from a mid-80's 318. Google W302 318 cylinder heads. The combustion chamber is smaller and heart shaped. Check out the Mopar forums. I use the felpro performance intake gasket. Think the number is 1243. It is 0.060 thick and seals bett...

Re: Cutlass Bearing Size

In case others want to know, the cutlass bearing dimensions are 2" x 5" X 1.25". The Johnson / Duramax bearing name is a "Dotty".
