Re: Silly marina sign

Nothing, those are the kind you have to use. And wear sneakers or take off your shoes so you don't make too much noise.

Re: Silly marina sign

P ain't must be with a southern accent. In Alaska we laugh at them a lot. Not with them, at them.

Re: 318 ignition system

Ignore your timing mark on the dampner, it may have slipped. If it runs good it sure isn't at 36degrees BTDC.

Re: Engine Warms up and wont stay running

Yes, it is heat related. If it is vapor lock you won't have fuel in the float bowl and the accelerator pump won't squirt fuel. My guess is no spark, and the ECM is bad. It's the module mounted on the fire wall if it was a Dodge pick up. Yours will be nearby. Easy to change and you should have a spar...

Re: Engine Warms up and wont stay running

Check your fuel and spark. Remove the flame arrestor and pump the throttle. Does the accelerator pump squirt gas? Try it before you start it to see how it works. Try your spark. Remove the coil wire from the center of the distributor and place it 1/4 inch from the block or some grounded metal part. ...

I would take the T-stat out completely. The engine won't heat up as fast but otherwise will be fine. Run it for a while and see if you still have the problem. Often there is nothing wrong, just air trapped in the housing and needs to be bled. With air trapped you have no coolant there, so the t-stat...

Re: Findinging TDC and setting Distrib on rebuilt Engine

Do you understand why you were 180 degrees out? ( you used the timing mark when #1 was on the exhaust stroke, not the compression stroke. You fixed it the right way, just move all the wires 180 degrees. Half way around the distributor. ) My guess is you have 2 or more plug wires on the wrong cylinde...

Re: Hard Starting

Look down the throat of the carb and pump the throttle. If there is gas in the float bowl the accelerator pump will squirt gas .
