Re: Front windows on cabin

Get the glass and info from a good glass shop. Silicone caulk is good, but you can't paint it.--Ed

Re: Exhaust hose advice

Lots, and lots of soap. More soap you use, the easier it is, and easier to wash your hands when you are done. In some places you can start the hose and then put a 2x4 across the end and smack it with a hammer. Watch out for that wire! If the hose was cut with a saw the wire will be extra sharp. Do y...

Re: Water in my front compartment

My front and rear compartments are separated by the firewall in the engine area in my boat so I do not see any flow back and forth. On mine there are notches in the ribs and stringers to allow water to drain down to the keel. Keep dirt out of these notches so the water is not dammed up. Water will ...

Re: Exhaust hose advice

Make sure you get marine grade hose rated for exhaust. Use dish or hand soap for lube. Use lots of it. You can get plumbers test plugs to block the exhaust from outside the hull. Stuff it in and tighten the wingnut and they expand to seal the pipe. You can weigh the bow down to bring the stern up. U...

Huh! I'd always heard that you use white bread to filter your hooch. I guess the professionals use a Perko.

Re: Rudder Alignment Question

I wondered when you were going to get to this. Got all your parts cleaned up and now lets put them all together. If like mine your helm or wheel controls ( or is linked to ) one rudder, and you have a tie rod to the other rudder, this is what you do. First only worry about the rudder that is control...

The Admiral would never go for it, but a guy can dream.

It's a case of you can afford the boat, it's the divorce that is the expensive part.

Re: MY 1966 26 ft 327 fireball

If it is running good, leave it alone. Pull the sparkplugs and check if they are fouling. Normal for an engine to burn some oil until it warms up. Make sure you are not overfilling it by draining all the oil and then put in the right amount. Then check the dipstick. If wrong, put a new "full&qu...

If you have the Borg-Warner Velvet Drive you can use the same transmission and just change the way it is set up. You might want to rebuild it anyway. When you put it back together, you have to know which way it is going to rotate.-Ed

Re: Custom rear top fabrication

I don't know what you have in mind, but I built a sliding aluminum roof for mine. I will try to find a picture, but you can get an idea from my avatar pic. It is strong, but I did put a post to support it in the center of the transom. I find the post comes in handy to have something to hang onto bac...
