Re: Hard to start?
Remember these are carbeurated engines guys. Try starting a 1980s or 70s dodge truck when its 20 below out and THAT is a long crank time. 20- 30 seconds is normal as far as im concerned. I wouldnt be concerned with a minute after sitting for a week. 20 soconds cranking, give it a rest for 30 seconds...

Re: Help with info; data to choose a boat
The B Model 32 was interesting. I think the separate shower stall is the most important feature. But i don't think I could do without my Dinette. To the OP I think a twin engine boat is much easier to live with than a single. Not that a single would scare me. I do not think a kicker 15hp motor is g...

Re: looking for trailer/info for 1970 28'
I used to tow around my 28 express single engine all the time, had a 2016 venture tandem axle trailer, height was around 12' in the trailer. Model was the vatb8725 or 8750?? The only issue I had was the trailer could have been a little longer to get more boat up on the trailer and hence some more to...

Re: Fuel Filter inside our gas tanks
My 72 28 express had an issue with the pickup being corroded out..... I had to replace the stand pipe inside of the tank. The bottom 6" of the stand pipe looked like Swiss cheese and crumbled when I touched it. I reduced the problem to the tank by running the boat off of an outboard fuel tank f...

Re: bilge pump switch
Both of the 28' express that I've owned were wired so the float switch went directly to the battery on a fused circuit.. it saved my boat once when I left it up in Duluth for a few weeks. They got excessive rain( 10" in a week) and my shaft log leaked a bit and to top that off the hose for the ...

Re: dome lights not working Where is ground buss located?
We see this all the time, I work as a service supervisor for a large diesel engine manufacturer. Just because there is voltage does not mean the wiring will carry the proper amperage. In our shop We use load testers or a headlight to make sure that wiring can carry enough amperage/load.

Re: Exhaust manifold/elbow gasket question
The fresh/raw water cooling terminology always trips me up, I have no antifreeze or hear exchanger, every thing is cooled by river water.....thanks for the reply.

Exhaust manifold/elbow gasket question
'72 318, with the dual pocket water pump. Should the gaskets between the manifold and the elbow at the rear have the water passages opened up or closed???? If I understand the system correctly I would think the gastket should stop flow from the manifold to the elbow so that the two are isolated from...
