Re: Perko Fuel Filter/Water Separator Model 299
Well, don't know if this is good news or bad news. Fuel from both separators is clean and water free. I'm not surprises, because both engines are purring like large kittens, responding to revving w/o hesitation, and don't stall when put under load at idle (putting her in gear, pulling against dock l...

Re: Perko Fuel Filter/Water Separator Model 299
i too am skeptical of "rejuvenation" claims. and sales BS. This stuff supposedly was developed for large storage facilities (thousands of gallons) which may be sales BS, but something in my research at the time made me put some faith in it, I just don't remember the details. I haven't rule...

Re: Perko Fuel Filter/Water Separator Model 299
Joel, I don't think they're the culprits because they were replaced relatively recently (2 years ago), but will look them over anyway. One of the reasons was both engines simultaneously choking. That logic applies to the Perkos, but cleaning and replacing seemed to resolve the issue, but only tempor...

Re: Perko Fuel Filter/Water Separator Model 299
Thanks Carl, I do that routinely, but will watch them more closely as part of the trouble isolation. It's a good possibility as my tanks were almost dry when this all started. I had some stuff that supposedly "dried out" and "rejuvenated" stored gas a few years ago, if I can reme...

Re: Perko Fuel Filter/Water Separator Model 299
Joel, Thanks for the input. Since my post I called Perko who won't sell retail, but has plenty in stock. Their part number is 0324001ELM for the 1 3/4" jobs and 0324002ELM for the bigger ones. With that p/n I had no trouble finding them and ordered a couple more. I didn't really want to replace...

Re: Perko Fuel Filter/Water Separator Model 299
I know I'm asking on an old post, but I'm having what looks like fuel filter problems. Engines start and idle, but stall when under load, or when advancing throttle. Cleaned Perko filters in Chem Dip, and ran well for a short while then problem returned. Am being told to replace Perkos with "mo...

Re: Use fuel treatment? Read this!
I have always been a stickler for the (careful) removal of the tinfoil seal on all my automotive (and boat) fluids, even windshield washer fluid. It's nice to see this vindication of my compulsive behavior.

Re: carburetor rebuild
I planned to take pictures anyway. I have short term memory issues from a 55 mph head on a few years back, so extra planning and precautions are the plan of the day, everyday. The link to Mike's will insure I get marine approved parts. I'm not sure there's a difference as far as gaskets and internal...

carburetor rebuild
I have a flooding and leaking carburetor that suggests it's time to rebuild. I asked a couple people, and think that I can handle it as long as I keep track of parts and disassembly / assembly sequence. Now I wonder if the rebuild kits available at the auto parts places are OK for marine applications?

Re: I think i have found the one...
As mentioned, most insurers will require one anyway, but even if yours doesn't, a survey is 2 to 3.5% of what you plan to pay for the boat, or a little more than a fill-up. In my opinion, that's pretty cheap peace of mind.
