Re: window track

Switching from plastic to aluminum track takes some work. The actual installation of the track itself is pretty straightforward and easy. However, it is a two-person job to get the windows out of the frame - unless, perhaps, you have a reliable suction device to hold the windows firmly. I did it on...

Re: Prop size and operating RPM for 318 Chrysler engines

You said you were hitting almost 5k rpms. Was that wide open throttle? If not, imagine how much faster the props could be spinning. A sure fire way to wreck those rebuilt engines (or any engine). The correct term Jeff used was "underpropped". Sorry, but it's very much underpropped. I'm cur...

Re: Prop size and operating RPM for 318 Chrysler engines

I recall that the book said 4,000-4,400 rpms with 16x15 cupped props which is what my 32 FBS had. I topped at around 4K. I am not going to pretend to be a prop/torque gearhead guy but I think you are carrying the wrong props now. 5K rpms (again based on my recollection) is way too high and could cau...

Re: Fresh Water Holding Tank Pump

Glad to hear you're getting adequate water pressure. Hot water tank was on the stbd side of the storage compartment under the cabin stairs in my 32' 1988 FBS.. Fresh water tank was on port side.

Re: Fresh Water Holding Tank Pump

I know I posted the formula on the forum some yrs ago. It was provided by my county health dept when I had odor and quality issues with fresh water. "Shock" the system with 1 tablespoon of bleach for every gal of water. Run it thru til it comes out all faucets, shut off the pump and let it...

Re: window track

If anyone still has plastic track, pay attention here -- those plastic tracks will disintegrate, only a matter of time. If someone comes forward with a metal replacement source, jump on it.

Re: What should the Galvanic meter readings range between?

Mine reads .85 - .92 most of the time now. How much of a concern is this? I added a cabled anode but it doesn't seem to change the readings. If you haven't done so already, clean the wire connections on the meter and see if that makes a difference. It may since the current amounts are so small to b...

Re: Off season fuel conditioner

I always used a "stabilizer" called Sta-bil. Can't say why I used it. At the same time, I always took mfr claims with a couple of grains of salt. But I didn't want to chance a bad outcome and it was relatively cheap stuff. I never saw any objective article reporting on independent tests of...
