Private message outbox stuck

I tried to send two PM's the other day and I see they both are still listed as being in my outbox. Is that normal site behavior?

Re: Fold Down Masthead light

Under 40', as I read the regs, your masthead light covers the 225 forward arc, the stern light, facing aft, covers the remaining 135 degrees so there's light visible all around. That forward light should come up higher than the windshield. That said, we had a 360 light forward plus the stern light. ...

Re: Capac reading

A cleaning alone will improve the situation. I'd also clean the wire contacts on the meter itself. Did that once and got a slightly better reading. I was in brackish (Chesapeake Bay) water and sometimes got low readings, too- 6 or 7. We had no galvanic problems discernible. But this is always fascin...

Re: Marinette Owner's Manual

Thanks for posting! Are your velvet drives 1:1 of do you have reductions? If that was directed to me, I no longer own the vessel but loved it and love to keep up with you guys (and offer bad advice). As I recall it did have velvet drives at, if I recall properly 1:52-1 (I have I stated that correct...

Re: Who to not to shop from

If it were me and I got a quote of $81 for "handling" on top of shipping.. and the place had a bad BBB rating (they're fairly objective while online reviews are suspect), I would have bestowed my bucks on another vendor. But that;s just me.

Re: Who to not to shop from

Just a warning to my friends out there. Bought two starters from Basic Power Industries ( also on the web as eBasic Power) They are in Harkers Island NC .Phone (252) 728-5566. I paid $67 for postage and $81 for "handling" for the package. Talked to customer service, and their attitude was...

Just a thought: letting out more line gives greater holding power.

Re: insurance providers

I am also a fan of Boat US insurance. They paid out my (only) claim - a very large one - with little static and pushback. I am guessing that today, they'd want a survey on an older boat. But surveys are cheap, relatively, and provide very good feedback on things you may overlook.

Re: Retrofitting bow anchor platform

The placement logistics aside, I once posted an article from a boating how-to magazine which urged that the electric winch be powered from a separate battery placed forward to save running very heavy duty wires up to your main batteries. These winches draw heavily. A very small, separate charger wou...
