Re: Nautolex - Original White w/Charcoal Stripes

I would have, but had to go a different route. I think you guys need to do some polling around the country. There is alot of older boats being restored right now. Just this winter I saw 3 different boats getting new flooring. The one, a Bertram, the owner spent most of the winter carefully peeling t...

Re: Strange Marinette?

So would this have been back in the 50s? 60s?

Looks like someone is fixing her up. I may stop by and chat with them sometime.

Strange Marinette?

Spotted this while working on a customers boat. It has Marinette emblems on the side. Welded hull and riveted superstructure.

Re: wire size

Alternator/generator ratings and controls are a mystery to many, even good mechanics. I had the good fortune of working in a shop with a starter/alternator rebuild department. This was extremely beneficial in my line of work. Here are a few valuable points I learned on alternator upgrades. 1- Altern...

Re: Looking for port hole screens

If you are interested, I was going to see if Sundown Sheet metal in Fruitport could repair mine. If my frames fit yours, they could probably make new ones for you.

Re: Chris craft 350q engine swap?

If you go look at them, you will understand. I believe the pictures that Jeff posted are early Q engines. The later ones fixed some of the weirdness, but added some new weirdness. If you compare a Q and F side by side, you will see that there are lots of little things that would need to be modified ...

Re: Chris craft 350q engine swap?

The intake cannot be swapped over to a standard intake very easy, if at all. The cooling ports, distributor mount and carb flange are all their own. Distributors alone are probably worth the $300. Block, heads, exhaust (for CC or Marine Power) and all internals would be universal. I believe the flyw...

Re: Looking for port hole screens

Jeff, I too am looking for screens. I have one ok screen and one that is destroyed. I assume yours and mine are the same. Do you still have your screen frames?

Re: Chris craft 350q engine swap?

Don't think I have ever seen a Q with a V drive. The standard Qs with Paragon gears share all the same mounting and input splines as a velvet drive. The stringer mounts may be another thing, but your BigM is already set up for the standard velvet drive "ape hanger" mounts. One thing to be ...

Use fuel treatment? Read this!

For those who don't know me, I repair boats and equipment for a living. This is also how I came to own my 32 express, but that is a story for another day. I want to share a story with all about a job I worked on last week as it pertains to the recent threads on intermittent poor performance and stal...
