Re: Stress cracks ???

The only time I have seen so called "stress cracks" in a metal hulled boat was when the hull was allowed to get substantial amount of water in it that froze solid over the winter. That was on a Roamer but I was amazed at how many welds were cracked. They decided to cut her up after that.

I honestly don't know.

You should have Velvet Drive 72C transmissions (or 10-18 in certain literature).

Re: Question to owners about your 32' FB Sedan

Be careful comparing trawlers to Marinettes. That is like apples to marshmallows. Completely different hull designs and purposes. A trawler will have a displacement or semi-displacement hull that will be very fuel efficient close to its rated hull speed with a lower power engine. Marinettes are cons...

Re: Burgundy paint

Depending on the age and amount of fading for the paint you want to touch up, it is going to be difficult to find a match. Chances are it is no where near the color it was new. I took a sample of my blue paint to a local automotive/industrial paint speciality store. They worked their magic and came ...

Re: Thermostat Housing

The ones I have are either '68-'74 or '86 and newer. What you need is still available new p/n 3745360. If you can't find one let me know and I can order one.

Re: Thermostat Housing

I should have one for you. I will check the parts dept. tomorrow morning. If the ones I have are questionable, I know I can still get them from one of my suppliers.

Re: Thermostat Housing

Do you have the single pocket raw water pump with the circulating pump on the front of the engine, or do you have the dual pocket raw water pump without the circulating pump?

Re: Engine oil, transmission fluid and filter types for Chrysler 360

For those that have Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmissions (which should be all but the very early boats from the 50's or 60's) multi purpose ATF would be the proper fluid. This is what replaced the Dexron/Mercon fluid. Don't run the dexron VI fluid because it has aditives that don't jive with the c...

Re: Calcium Chloride, Will it eat my M?

I know it destroys steel when in contact (look at old tractor rims that have been loaded). Brass gets a light green haze on the surface, but I can't recall seeing the affects on aluminum. I would think it would be similar to salt. Might only affect it with contact.

Re: 360 valve cover gasket replacement

Most manifolds will allow you to remove the valve covers but you will need a 1/4" drive ratchet, 6" extension, and either a short 7/16 socket with a universal or a 7/16 wobble socket. Do try and tighten them first, but if they are cork they will leak again. Felpro makes a marine specific g...
