Re: Facebook Group

Oh I totally understand that there is a wealth of knowledge here I have been given more then I ever expected already in this forum. I am very appreciative of that. The main purpose was to find parts etc for sale. I just missed out on a extended swim platform on the FB site that may have for my boat ...

Re: Exhaust manifold removal

Gat ya Jeff I was trying to figure out how deep to go before I button the exhaust back up. Sounds like it's time to start putting her back togeather and seeing what we have also following your earlier recommendation on running it and checking the oil at idle then with load. Thankfully there is a ele...

Facebook Group

Not sure if anyone here is part of the Facebook group but I have not had a Facebook account in 5 years but I created a new one to join the group. I was accepted in the group then before I could post anything I was apparently blocked. If anyone is in that group could you please pass the word that I a...

Re: Exhaust manifold removal

No all freeze plugs intact as far as I can tell. I've checked both sides of the block so unless I'm missing some then I think I'm good there. The engine that had the exhaust leaks also was very low on coolant in the heat exchanger when I inspected it. Just made me wonder if maybe the exhaust had bee...

Re: Exhaust manifold removal

Oh boy lol It is very confusing for certain. I was looking this morning and found several examples of the log style manifold with the lower elbow and upper swivel risers (like I have) and the upper swivel riser had 1 water inlet coming into it and the lower elbow had a hose not sure if in or out. Mi...

Re: Exhaust manifold removal

Okay here goes the noob questions. I am trying to determine the water path through the exhaust. I have the manifold log style that has the water flows from the top not the front plate. Then it runs the length of the manifold and the next part is the spacer that has the water jacket blocked so water ...

Re: Exhaust manifold removal

Well, after doing some research on how this open exhaust system works and some self education I think i have a better understanding of it now. Also after getting the manifold and riser out of the bilge where i could see them I learned a lot more. The water passage on both were 100% stopped up and fu...

Re: Exhaust manifold removal

Jeff- thanks so much for the ideas on testing. I am thinking about trying to plug up the passage as well as I can and using g something to get the rust out of it. I was also going to clean all the rust off of the face where the manifold mounts and try to make sure I have a clean flush face for mount...

Re: Exhaust manifold removal

Pics of head after exhaust manifold removed. Was hoping to find a blown gasket or leaking gasket here to answer my question of why liquid in the spark plug hole closest to the riser. If anytime has any thoughts on the condition or if the gasket appears to have leaked I would appreciate the knowledge.
