Re: swim platform covering

I covered mine with cedar planking to extend it further aft (to allow a dink boat mounting). Came out fairly nicely.

Re: Hard Starting

That's a good idea as long as the accelerator pump is working properly. And that might be another reason for hard starting (if it's not).

Re: Zincs- More is better?

If your CAPAC reading is too high (1.2 up) then there's too much protection.

Re: Hard Starting

My old boat did that to me regularly. The carb was empty after sitting a week or so, as I proved by removing the top! (I'm anal.) You can see if that's your problem as well by CAREFULLY adding some fuel into the carb before trying to start her up (after sitting a week). If it tries to go (and does),...

Re: 28 on the way to Uruguay

After seeing boats slam and bang their way down highways on trailers with no suspension or shocks, I hope yours survives the trip. And, yes, highway travel is far more violent than hitting rough water.

Re: Exhaust manifold removal

If yours is a raw water cooled motor, you must use marine gaskets. If fresh water cooled, automotive is fine.

The distributor has to come out and the carb as well.

Ah-hem. Good luck!

PS: For God's sake don't snap off an Easy Out trying to get it out.

Re: Exhaust manifold/elbow gasket question

That's raw water cooled. The PO of mine removed the FWC system and I ran RWC for the decade I owned it. Much simpler IF you're not in salt water.
