Many small yacht manufacturers are going to big outboards. Why? More usable volume inside the hull and, with modern 4 strokes, a quiet efficient drive system. And they sure are a LOT easier to work on!

Black, right? John Hall had a couple in his 32 footer and they ran strong. (Sounded just like Chryslers, by the way.)
My old 32 footer did 32 mph with stock 360s. (No flybridge or gen set and only two aboard.) It was stable at that speed, by the way.
