Re: Mechanical Steering Lubrication

Don't know (but thanks for the compliment). Someday I'll redo the thing.

Re: Spark Plug Wires

The strongest DIS-advantage to the factory wiring mess is it's very easy to confuse the wires. The marina guys did that to me (during an insurance settlement deal) and it drove me nuts trying to cure a backfire under throttle. Changed all kind sort things before finding they had two plug wires rever...

Re: Spark Plug Wires

Looks good. Did you go under the manifolds or stuff the wires between the manifolds and valve covers?

Hey, that's how we used to lube motorcycle cables! And it works fine.

With 20 plus feet of cable for the oil to migrate through, it could take several hours so be patient.

Also take a look at the anti-siphon valves at the tank. They can stick/ get plugged and cause this problem.

Re: Marinette purchase advice

You won't believe this, but the standard body shop technique for de-stinking a burnt interior of a car is to wash everything with kerosene. The kero stink goes away after a while, taking the burnt odor with it.

Might work for cig stink as well.

Re: Barnaclerid and other Copper Ion Systems

"I feel your pain!" (Bill you-know-who) Been there, done that. Got so frustrated with the sluggish performance of my old 32 footer (on a trip) that I scrapped the ENTIRE bottom with a 1 1/2 inch wide putty knife! Swallowed gallons of water in the process, but the performance was gratifying...
