Re: Sunken 32`

Yeah, brother! When my clock turned over 70, I discovered those 8 hour days of thrashing were over--forever. Now it's 3 to 4 hours and lie down if the old back is acting up (as it tends to do).

The Golden Age; that's when you spend all your gold trying to stay healthy.

Re: Sportsman Helm Destroyer Wheel

Here's where mine ended up. It was supposed to be a 'temporary' fix, until I got another wheel, but it kinda grew on me.

Memories, memories! (And not pleasant ones either.)

Re: Sportsman Helm Destroyer Wheel

3/4" tapered shaft is correct. I have one that I use in my dinkboat (and won't part with it--sorry).

Re: Kicker motor

Man, those sailboat hulls really move easily through the water.

Always wanted to buy two, identical sailboats and build an OB power catamaran.

You know, I'll bet it doesn't matter which way at all!

Re: FYI, sounds like transmission grinding but was a dirty carb idle circuit

Right! The torsion coupling (looks like the center of a car's clutch disk) will make a hell of a racket if the idle isn't smooth. That can damage the thing, so it's good you don't let it continue too long.

Re: Kicker motor etc...

You could mount it on the swim platform IF you reinforced the aft edge with an additional strut to the transom. Fixing it in place (so it can't turn) and using remote controls (throttle and shift) would be all you need--you steer with the rudders. Again, I'm not sure you're gonna get any better fuel...

Re: No fuel

Right. I use a Mighty-Vac for such purposes (and kept one on the boat! It's that usable.) Not too expensive and handy as the dickens.

Re: Kicker motor

Someone converted their big M to outboards, but they had to massively beef up the transom.

Not sure an outboard would deliver superior mpg with those two props dragging in the water. Seriously; and it'd have to be a 4 stroke OB at the very least.
