Re: Inverter/charger installation on dual engine

My setup is similar to Bill's. My Xantrex 1800 is fed from my STB battery bank only! I have a Parallel switch which will strap both banks for starting if needed. ( I use it when I start the Port so as not to drain the STB bank on startup when going out to anchor etc.) My house batteries consist of 2...

Re: Oil leak - good & bad

Very common for these sensors to leak. (Have replaced several myself) They are a common item at NAPA. They made two a long one and a short. Buy the shorter one if at all possible! I keep a couple of spares on the boat. The long one is a tight fit it gets in the way of my Distributor on the port engi...

Re: Distributor cap corrosion

Moisture has been a concern with all the Dist. in the Big M's. My STB dist even the old Prestolite had moisture issue more so than the port. Interesting that they have discovered the caps were holding moisture. I now have the New and Improved and will be interesting to see if there is an improvement...

Re: Perko Fuel Filter/Water Separator Model 299

I second all the above. I have spare elements but never have had to replace mine. They work great are easy to maintain and they work! Now why did they go away? The reason is they lost their U.S.C.G. 162 approval because they had a drain sump. (Now only allowed on diesel setups) Once (not on this boa...

Re: Pertronix Distributor Test

Received replacement Rotor and Cap from Pertronix. The replacement cap is a different color and while it looks the same they are suppose to be improved. Same with Rotor, but have not measured it yet. We shall see how they look after a couple of months.

I had a similar problem but found out it was a corroded fuse socket. Cleaned it up and all was fine.

Re: 28 hardtop express idleing problem

Great that it is running again. Now the screen issue. I am assuming you have a point type distributor. Sounds like the condenser was getting too hot and breaking down. Point type distributors must have screens on the vent for U.S.C.G approval. The screens purpose is a flash suppressor, thus not allo...

Re: 360 Chrysler running like crap cont...

I agree with tundrarules.... While both of us are testing Pertronix there are other ignitions out there. While I had a cap /rotor fail this spring I have run the same Cap and Rotor for 4 full season and with the boat in the water 12 months a year. I could have changed it out earlier but I also felt ...

Re: 1990 318 won't turn over with ignition plugged in

Purple wire should be the I terminal (ignition) Cranking voltage should never run through the Purple wire. If it tries it cannot handle the load and I am surprised it did not burn the wire up if it did. Check your wiring to the starter relay sounds like it may be mis wired. Mind you I am only taking...
