Re: Replacing seals in transmissions / 1989 32 Sedan

Thats wild for a rebuild. I'm glad I did mine myself. Really not that hard if you are somewhat mechanically savvy.

Re: New member with questions, Sedan 32

I'm 30.....everyone else stated it first so I don't want to be beat up for not following the threads common rule! My hat is off to you, Ed. You've chosen a great boat to look at. They can be manned single handed, but you need to have everything prepped and ready to go. Everything includes your plan,...

Re: What has been your process for cleaning boat bottom?

Re: Seacoat Sea-speed bottom paint

Ha, all the guys at my Shipyard were telling me to seriously consider the coal tar. The shipyard owners said its great....until you need to remove it for any kind of service (thru hulls, anodes, etc.). So I elected to go the normal route, which is the only route I've ever seen here or otherwise. May...

Re: Sunken 32`

A quick update for anyone concerned. They applied the first coat which was supposedly some kind of acid wash/etching primer system. It looked pretty good after a quick sanding. We used interlux water tite to fair the bottom, which was a pretty good product to work with. That being said, it damn well...

Re: Sunken 32`

I am quite aware of aluminum oxidizing the second its exposed to atmosphere. Like I said, its in the ship yards hands. We discussed etching primers and acid washes etc. I guess I'm more interested in the whole "do it the exact moment the blasting is done". Its literally impossible. The bla...

Re: Sunken 32`

It's in the marinas hands now. They scheduled blasting for sunday, welder for monday (who didn't show today), so who knows whats going to happen. The two brothers who own the shipyard are very knowledgeable and really do quality work, so I sure hope they do some prep work before painting. That being...
