Re: Kicker motor

One of the guys on the Marinette Facebook page posted this video awhile back. It's a 9.9 hp outboard mounted to the swim platform for fishing/trolling. He got about 2 mph out of it. https://www.facebook.com/bryan.oetting/videos/g.17048184974/10207097390253550/?type=2&theater Not sure if the vide...

Re: Exhaust hose advice

John, I thought the Vetus hose was very easy to work with. Once the old hose was off, there was rust and scale on the exhaust elbow. I scraped this off and used a bunch of dish soap like others have suggested. New hose went on no problem. You do have to watch it with that wire in both the old and ne...

Re: Bottom Paint Touch Ups with new anodes

In that case - you could just sand those spots that will be left exposed when the old anodes are removed. If there are bare metal spots, sand to shiny aluminum. Immediately prime with interlux primocon before the aluminum oxidizes. They make a spray paint version of Primocon for these small jobs. The...

Re: Left Hand or Right Hand - What is standard?

Thanks for sharing! i have had quite a few people not believe me when I say that my engine is reverse (right hand) rotation...even a boat mechanic or two. If you ever need to buy a new starter for a reverse engine (I did last year) double check which way the new starter spins before buying it! On a ...

Re: Bottom Paint Touch Ups with new anodes

Do you want to put a fresh coat on the whole underwater portion of the hull or just a few small spots? If just a few small spots - you could probably get a away with sanding them lightly and using an ablative antifouling paint like interlux micron CF, Pettit vivid, or Sea Hawk mission bay. Trilux 33...

Re: Exhaust hose advice

side note - that Vetus hose I used looks corrugated on the outside but the inner surface is smooth. It's been installed 2 years on my boat, no problems yet.

Re: Exhaust hose advice

I've replaced most of my exhaust hose with Vetus exhaust hose from Jamestown Distributors. Good price. Used a combination of a utility knife, pliers, and flat screwdriver to remove the old hose. Slice hose with knife, pry with screwdriver, and cut wires with the pliers. New hose went on pretty good ...

Re: Anode advice

They look a little rough but if you cleaned them off with a stiff stainless wire brush they would probably still have some life left to them. Additional contact points cant hurt. The general rule is that anodes are dead after 50% or more of their original material has worn away. If you decide to go ...

M owners in Georgia

Heard there were severe storms near Augusta recently...even saw an article online about dock collapsing and capsizing boats.

Hope our BigM companions in Georgia are all OK.

Re: A 60' Marinette ?

Looking through those pictures, a few of them show a cabin window with the name "Sorry Dog" printed on it.

Sorry Dog used to be a member of the forum. More experienced members might still know how to contact him...FastJeff, BarkleyDave, Bill?
