Re: Hull Anodes

I pulled the anodes I put on last year, and the backs look like a white crystalline material has grown. I've been in brackish water on the ICW, so prob aluminum chloride. Can't be good for conduction, but Capac still read OK. Thinking about putting SST washers on, so drill holes dont erode and hurt ...

Re: Hull Anodes

Busia,

Have always bought from boatzincs. Good folks.

Would discourage using zinc anything with this system of protection. Will form a galvanic cell and increase erosion. You might get by with this in real cold water, tho.

Re: Hull Anodes

JR, you confirmed what I thought was the case. Just seeking confirmation to be sure.

Seems thick washers on the outside of anodes would keep them on longer as they erode.putting washers between anode & hull seems like a very bad idea.

Thanks again!

Re: Bottom paint recommendation

Having my 37' done now, at Huckins Yacht Corp in JAX FL. Needed sandblasting, due to flaking. Huckins had best rep, & gives written quotes. Sandblasting, 2 coats self-etch primer, 2 coats hi-build epoxy. 2 coats anti-fouling paints, all Petit non-copper. Est is about $5300 total (ouch) but we're...

Hull Anodes

Just having bottom job, starting with sandblasting to bare aluminum. Is it best to apply anodes when the hull is bare, before any paint is applied? If so, what protects the hull surface under the anodes? Is it just natural Al oxidation? What keeps the hull from pitting under the anodes, esp in salt ...

Re: Overhead 12 Volt DC Accessory Panel Restoration

Nice job! Could you share CB size for each function on your panel? I can't read p/n for CBs on my panel...

THANKS!

Blue Water Marine paints?

Does anyone have experience with BWM paints? What is your impression vs Interlux or Petit?

Bottom paint in Florida

I have three questions. First, can anyone recommend a contractor for bottom painting in Florida? Hoping to get answers on both cost & quality. Second, what's a good spec for paint? Sanding then primer (I assume 2 primer coats are adequate), then what works best for salt water use (what have you ...
