Re: New oil pump?

Jeff- I am determined to fix this. I am going to lift the engine up to the deck, and after laying a 4 x4 deck to work on, pull the sump and replace the pump. I am going to have the oil tested, but I don’t know how much that will tell me . What do you think I should pull to determine the state of the...

New oil pump?

I can’t believe I did this, but after months of getting a 360 long block finished and installed, and running well, with Your help, I believe my oil pump is shot. A log story as to why I didn’t see this immediately before (questionable guage, sender, connector, wiring, and disbelief) , I finally inst...

Re: Findinging TDC and setting Distrib on rebuilt Engine

In case you are wondering, Jeff and I used a fresh 5 gallon supply to get the engine running.

Re: Findinging TDC and setting Distrib on rebuilt Engine

Yes, sadly. I tried to add about 10 gallons of hi-test, and blue stuff ( name escapes me - normal gas additive) that was not helpful... SO I asked the yard to have someone pump out the tanks , and add new gas if they can. I am hoping they can do it this week while I am gone...we ‘ll see. I know I pr...

Re: Findinging TDC and setting Distrib on rebuilt Engine

Yes, I am amazed! In about 20 minutes, Fastjeff had her running like a scalded dog. Having determined that it was 180 deg out, after getting the engine close to TDC, Jeff rewired the cap (from memory), and lifted just the rotating shaft of the distributor, moved that 180 Degrees, and dropped it back...

Re: Findinging TDC and setting Distrib on rebuilt Engine

When I got the engine long block, the timing chain had been aligned. After installing the chain cover, water pump, damper, belt pulley, the intake manifold, flywheel and transmission, I dropped the distributor in, aligning it with the shaft and pump index slot, consistent with it’s prior position on...

Re: Findinging TDC and setting Distrib on rebuilt Engine

Thanks Busia, I believe you are correct.

Jeff, That would be great! I am at the old Sailing Emporium.

I hope to be over there on Saturday, if you have time, but I must confer with the War Department, as to my schedule!

Thanks,

Bud

Findinging TDC and setting Distrib on rebuilt Engine

I haven't asked a question in a number of years -- but here goes. I have 20 years of experience with Marinette's, and 318/360's. I have torn many down to parade rest. My current 32' has twin 1989 360's, and I had to replace my STBD engine (long story). I ordered and obtained a rebuilt 360 long block...

Need a strut

Hi Folks, I need a Starboard Shaft Strut for my 1990 32' twin engine Marinette. Must have hit something at sometime in the past and bearing replacement showed it to be out of alignment. 10 year insurance Survey caught it. The yards machine shop doesn't want to straighten it. Anyone have one, or know...

Barnaclerid and other Copper Ion Systems

Ok - On the Chesapeake bay, I am seriously tired of dealing with barnacles, weed, slime, and other things that attach to my hull. I have been getting this '90 32' Marinette painted with Interlux Trilux EVERY YEAR! since 1999 -- doesn't work on the South river. HAS ANY ONE INVESTIGATED or used the Ba...
