Re: Marinette saves garage.

Your insurance company will undoubtedly total the boat and maybe you can buy it from them for small $ so you can part it out and sell the rest for scrap.

Then tell the admiral it's a message to buy a 32 . . .

Re: I need a Marinette 32' couch

Hello Imboating. Looks like your 32 has the B layout--i.e., without the dinette and with a bigger head and galley. I haven't seen many and wonder how you like it?

Re: I need a Marinette 32' couch

While it would be a lot easier to buy one and that would be my first choice, they wouldn't be too tough to make--no? If I had to do it, I'd make a box with a piano-hinged lid that would provide more storage space than the drawers. Just a thought. Good luck.

Re: 28 hardtop express idleing problem

How long does the engine take to conk out? Does it restart right away? How does it run otherwise? I've heard fisherman on the Great Lakes complain that idling with the old style alternators and running the electronics we have these days discharges the battery.

Re: Rough seas

When I was shopping for my BigM, I rode a 28' Pursuit and a 28' BigM on the same day in the same conditions (about 2 to 3' of chop) on Lake Erie. The Pursuit was faster but the ride much bumpier. Like wood, I understand aluminum has some give to it that provides a softer ride. We don't get much in t...

Yes. I had those seacocks in my 28'. They were great for winterizing--attach the hose and put it in a 5 gallon bucket of antifreeze.

Re: 1978 37 Express - CL

Some BigMs came from the plant with a freshwater flushing system. I understand it involved a valve just downstream of the seacock where the owner would attach a freshwater hose, turn on the freshwater, turn off the seacock and then turn on the valve to flush the engine. I heard about an owner in Flo...

Re: 1978 37 Express - CL

You can make the trip by water--loopers make their way through the lakes down the Chicago sanitary canal and into the Mississippi watershed. You'd have to do the calculations, but could also go the other way, through the canals and down the Hudson. It would be far cheaper and faster to ship the boat...

Absolutely would sell everything and move aboard. Down the Ohio and on to the Great Loop!

The Admiral would never go for it, but a guy can dream.

Re: Number of Boats' built ?

John Althouse may have production numbers. I remember reading an article someplace that there were over 5000 built. As many of you know, the company was bought by a houseboat outfit that moved production to Tennessee--one of those bean counter moves to consolidate production. The story I got from Jo...
