I'd use Marelon seacocks. You should never use gate valves or ball valves, only seacocks.

Mobil 1 10w30. Been using it since before it was generally available, was buying it by the case from the Mobil office at a gasoline storage facility. Talked to a guy at Marysville Marine once and he mentioned they had a customer that had a fleet of rental houseboats that used Mobil 1 in their genset...

Jeff, Just curious how long ago you did this. I would think that approach would cause a rapid deterioration of the underlying plywood as water would wick down along the screw shanks and both sit between the bottom of the aluminum and the top of the plywood keeping the wood wet as well as wicking dow...
