Trim Tab Pump

I had forgotten that the trim tab pump was missing on my 1978 28 express that I just picked up and got home. I noticed it last fall when I inspected the boat but forgot all about that. Does anyone know what model pump will work with my system? It has the original joystick style switch on the dash if...

Re: New guy/new owner here

So, Got the boat fired up last night on the hose, didn't even do a tune up, just wanted to see if it would fire. It started after about 30 seconds of cranking and ran perfect other than a little burble on fast acceleration. We will see how it runs under a load, maybe get it in the water this weekend.

spark plugs

I am going over and getting running the 1978 28 express I just got. I looked up the plugs in a book and it said Champion RN12yc were the right plugs, I pulled the old plugs yesterday to put oil in the cylinders and the engine had RN14yc plugs in it.... Which is correct?

Re: Hull plugs

Thanks guys for the help, just one plug on mine, starboard of center just aft of the v birth. We got the boat loaded on my trailer and home no problem. Looks like the plug on mine may be brass, I have to clean up and check. Should be stainless to prevent corrosion issues correct?

Hull plugs

Hey all, looking for some quick help here. I am going to pick up a 1978 28' express this weekend. It will be getting moved from storage and placed in the water for me to load onto my trailer. I need to make sure I get all the plugs put in and I do not know where they are all located. Any advise will...

Re: Battery group/size? 1978 28 express

Thanks for the input guys. I am leaning towards the interstates as I can get them from the local northern tool store and they have coupons out right now. My other thought is Wal-Mart, I've heard they have decent batteries there, but I have had good luck with the interstates in the past.

Battery group/size? 1978 28 express

I am buying a 1978 28 express hardtop, single 318. I am wondering if anyone knows what battery group/ size this boat would normally take. I am buying this out of town and want to get a battery or two for it before I head out to pick it up and give final payment. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: New guy/new owner here

I did not have a survey done, I went and inspected it myself. Having grown up around a 42' steel houseboat built in the 50's and owning 5 previous boats I feel I have a pretty good idea of what to look for on a used boat. I couldn't find anything to gripe about on this, no pitting in the bottom, goo...
