Re: 318 to 350 swap

I figured I have about $4 k in it right now, engine wise. I will probably have another $1000 in it with shafts and props and misc. items. Yes, the Chrysler's were great engines, after getting all the ign. issues fixed. If I could have found a pair of 360's for around the same price I might have gone...

318 to 350 swap

This past year I decided to replace the original 318's that came with the boat with a couple Chevy 350's. I had replaced a lot of parts on the 318's, manifolds, electronic ign., alternators, starters, wiring, etc. The motors ran fine, but I was looking for a little more power and part availability. ...

Re: Running light bulbs

I did my stern light bulb to LED, it is a lot brighter, I will definitely change out the forward running lights in the future.

Re: For Sale 1972 28' express with trailer

I suspect that it is not ign. related with all the plugs on that side being wet. To be sure, put a spark tester on each plug wire on that side and check for spark. I would check compression all the way around. It is possible there is an issue with the head,i.e., cracked or warped, bad head gasket. o...

Sounds a little high to me with all the work it needs. If I were to throw a number out there, $7000.

Re: Help needed explaining marine power 350s

Marine power, crusader, mercruiser, volvo, omc, and others all used the chevy 350 block. The main difference in all of them is electrical(distributor, alternator, etc.) and exhaust manifolds. I have a '76 28 express and repowered with 350's. I can't give you a brand, because I have the Johnny Cash mo...

Re: question about propeller racing in foul seas

I was referring to people moving about the boat while cruising, not when it is rough. I should have clarified. I don't go out with my kids if it is rough. My main point was that I use my tabs all the time.

Re: question about propeller racing in foul seas

Depending on sea conditions, the tabs could help out with the prop free wheeling. But the trim tabs are so much more. I would say on a typical cruise, at 25- 30 mph, I use my tabs a couple of times every few minutes. I have 5 kids, and they are always walking back and forth, and side to side, while ...
