Re: question about propeller racing in foul seas

I have had my twin engine 28 do this many times on Lake Superior. In my mind, it is just the nature of the beast. Having a very shallow draft, makes it easier for the props to break free in the rough stuff. Tabs are a must, but they only help so much. Just keep doing the balancing act between poundi...

Re: 1988 lm318 carburetor

Sounds like it needs to be rebuilt/cleaned. Rebuild kits with new needle and seat are usually around $40-50 bucks.

Re: Overhead 12 Volt DC Accessory Panel Restoration

I could be very wrong here, but wouldn't the load side be cold until the breaker is switched on, and the feed side be the "hot'" side? Kind of like "line" and "load" side for 120 volt?

Engine Swap

I decided to swap out my 318's for a pair of 350 Chevy's. Has anyone else done this in a 28 express? I think I might run into a clearance issue with the floor, since the Chryslers are real tight as it is. I plan on using the existing 1:1 velvet drive transmissions. Any insight from someone that has ...

Re: electronics upgrade

I have two transom mounts located between the engines. They work fine to about 7-8 mph, then the turbulence makes it hard to pick up fish. But I can usually track bottom up to full cruise speed of 27-28 mph.

Re: Removing water from gas tank

Sea foam does nothing for water in fuel. Use heet or some other kind of isopropyl additive after you pump the tank dry. If you don't pump it completely dry, I believe that you will be fighting this problem for a long time. I have pumped out many boat tanks in my time. Usually put a primer bulb on fu...

Re: In a Jamb or Just a Nut

Marysville Marine had a write up on it in there catalog. They said to use the big nut first, but said either way you do it, is fine.

Re: Kicker motor

You would need a 20-25 hp kicker to be able to move the boat 6-8 mph. It would use less fuel than the v8's, but that little motor would be screaming away and probably get annoying after a little bit.
