Re: Interior trim around windows 1973 sedan
Probably mahogany for that year. You are correct about the later years using teak but not sure exactly when that happened. Sand, wipe with tack rag and use a foam brush to apply a couple/few thin coats of spar with very light sanding & wiping between coats. May also be able to sand to oil but no...

Re: Zincs- More is better?
The stainless bow rail screws to the Aluiminum are only an issue if you have a medium other than air. In most cases the rail brackets fill up with gunk, the weep holes get clogged by the gunk and also partly by the rubber gasket pushing into the weep hole and the base begins to retain moisture. You ...

Re: Understanding the CAPAC
I use a multimeter every year to check/calibrate the capac needle. It can be adjusted with a small blade screwdriver.
Also check the coupling butt connector that connects the Capac to the sliver chloride electrode. The plastic capsule that protects the butt can get wet and corrode.

Re: GPS reception and lightning protection
The glass windows negate any Faraday effects. GPS and cellular work fine inside. Lightning is a non issue. It would (in my opinion) be shunted out the hull into the water much easier than fiberglass. But all bets are off with a direct strike. From what little I have read on the radar subject it does...

Re: Fried Toggle switch.
Might want to inspect the connections behind the main AC panel. You will probably find some of those spade connectors are slightly melted as well. Easy to replace.

Similar issue here as well. I'll give each engine a few pumps long before I start just to get some gas moving into the bowl. Also in the habit of a few pumps after running and engines have cooled down. Seems to help keep things primed.

Re: Cut Capac Cable
There should be a yellow tube that contains the factory splice. Its just a butt connector. The tube keeps the water away from the butt connector. If you need to add another butt outside of the tube get some shrink tube butts from West or use a regular butt and add some adhesive heat shrink before yo...

Re: New hole needed
A drill and hole saw will work. Hull is not that thick. Just make sure the saw is for metal and not wood. Can get the bronze seacock and thu hull from West Marine. Don't forget "below the waterline" adhesive and a package of gloves. Also helps to have 2 people. 1 inside to tighten and 1 ou...
