Re: Bow Hatch

I have thought about putting some sort of insulation on the bottom of the hatch. The previous owner had a piece of Styrofoam that he kept tucked in there, but I don't think he ever used the hatch. He never left the dock and always had the ac running. First thing I do when I get to the boat is open t...

Re: One engine cruising (dragging prop)

I don't do it so much for fuel savings. I don't like idling my engines too much. V8 engines in boats have certain rpm ranges that are "sweet spots". 900-1500 seems to be the low sweet spot while 2800-3200 rpm is the high end sweet spot. Below that you run the risk of excessive wear from lo...

Bow Hatch

Does anyone else experience severe condensation buildup on the underside of their cast aluminum bow deck hatch? If so, is there a remedy for this? Mine is so bad that I have to lay plastic on the V berth bed to keep it from getting soaked.

Still looking for info on this if available. Also, what was the original ceiling material?
Thanks

Re: Marinette Nameplate

This is the nameplate I am looking for. This one is aluminum. If someone has an original that is good enough to scan, I will have 4 made. Two for me and two for the donor, on the house.

Re: Replacing my 318 with a new 360

I would be interested in a confirmation on the front engine mount differences. It has been a few years since I did a swap. I don't remember the mounts being different.

I do have an oil pan, windage tray and oil pump for a 360 if you need one. As well as other parts for early LMs.

Re: One engine cruising (dragging prop)

As Busia said, it does not matter on a hydraulic transmission. If the input shaft is not being turned by the engine, the transmission defaults to full neutral. This is the case with all hydraulic transmissions, including automatic trans in cars and trucks.

Re: Caribbean cruising

Thinking of going thru Bahamas to USVI, over course of a few months. Wondering how 37' Marinette should handle this. To Bahamas, and a number of engines changed?!? According to the receipts I found in my boat, she has had 4 sets of engines before I took ownership. The previous owner had the last se...

Re: Caribbean cruising

The story goes with my boat that the original owner used to make regular trips between Florida and the Bahamas. Judging by the receipts and the number of engines changed, I believe it.

Re: Re-power

I will second what Jeff said. Other than the rear main seal, you have to work pretty hard to create leaks with new gaskets. Chryslers have large gasket surfaces compared to other automotive engines, and usually seal up tight.
