Re: Shaft size
My 37' with small block Chrysler has 1.25" shafts. The big block Crusaders (Chevy's) may be bigger.

Re: One wire alternator
I'm guessing the rotational direction is solely based on fan rotation, being weather it's pulling or pushing air to cool the unit. if that's the case, I don't think it would matter in a Big M. As opposed to inside of a car's engine compartment, or the engine bay of a fiberglass boat, even after a ha...

Re: Ignition wiring
Mine were just taped up and hanging as well, as mine was changed to single wire alternators by the previous owner.

Re: Could we collect prop, shafts and other parts specs and info here ??
When John Althouse's web site was still up and running, I printed off all of the available stats, prop sizes, RPM numbers, etc.... I have also converted the entire Chrysler engine parts book (for the pre 1980 engines) to modern, updated part numbers from NAPA, Summit Racing, etc... Just don't Know h...

Re: Chrysler 318 thermostat housing lip seal
The raw water T-stat is specific, as it opens at 140* F, unlike a car at 180-195*F. DO NOT replace it with an automotive version ! Chrysler part number is 3527765, if you google it, you will find many vendors that carry it. Not sure if it crosses into a NAPA number or a Stant. The stat's housing gas...
