Re: Fuel for thought

I've never seen one, but I have herd of what is called a pancake engine. It is essentially a 6-71 Detroit sitting sideways, for use in busses where low clearance is an issue. Would make an awesome engine in a Marinette. My brother and I used to build 2 stroke Detroits at a diesel shop we used to wor...

Re: Fuel for thought

Just thought of my diesel question again, and thought I would bring it back to life with no answers yet. You may not have any experience with owning a diesel yourself, as I do not either. Any thoughts at all? It would be nice to have long range cruising ability, I believe the 4BT would be perfect if...

Struck by lightning?

Has anyone's boat ever been struck by lightning, with you on it? We rode out a pretty good storm this weekend, a few strikes came very close. I have heard you should anchor during a lightning storm, the bolt will travel down the wet line and act like a lightning rod on a tower or building. The bow w...

I'll post it as soon as I can, I'm covered up the rest of this week. Hope I can figure out how to do it.

Re: North American users only - Why

I didn't know any Marinette owners when I joined, it would be awkward for someone to pull up to another M owner you don't know and ask if they were on the site and if they would vouch for you to get in. We may miss out on some good people, info, or happening events from people who wouldn't have a ch...

Re: confirmed top end

Get on the Marinette site on Facebook, there is a video of one with twin 360's doing 40MPH at 4,00RPM, he says it'll do 50-54 wide open, looks pretty smooth. I would post a name but I'm not sure that's allowed :?:  Tried to link it, and it won't let me. :( :(

Fuel for thought

I have a Cummins 4BT I picked up in a trade for a couple of truck axles, I have next to nothing in it, and it needs a home, one of my old trucks or my boat. I could possibly trade it for a 6BT to a friend for a little money. It came out of a bread truck and it has the Chevy engine bell, find a GM be...

Re: Repower Discussion

Me being cheep.....uh, thrifty, option one sounds good. Are your current engines in working order? If they are, then run your boat and enjoy it while you collect all your parts, when you have them all, bolt everything together and you have option two sitting on the floor ready to install for much le...

Re: 1st Post from a New Member

Trim tabs will help a lot. My buddy added them to his 28 footer and was really pleased. Jeff Shakemsam, I hate to but in on your post but maybe this will help you make your decision also. Jeff, What size tabs are on your buddies boat? What kind of performance gains can be expected, speed, economy, ...
