Dave,
I did not know that the filters had to be after the pump. What's the reason for this?
A previous owner of my boat added a spin on water separating filter before the pump but left the inline "can" filter near the carburetor. Sounds like I will need to move some things around...

Following Seas
This post is out of pure curiosity... My 1970 28' is the "old" hull design with shallow deadrise. In following seas (waves coming from straight behind) the boat wobbles all over the place as the stern gets pushed around by the waves. Steering becomes laborious as you constantly attempt to ...

Re: Prop Size 89 32' SDFB with/318s
Eric, If you have 318's with 1:1 velvet drives - props are 14x10 3 blade cupped If you have 318's with 1.52:1 gear reduction velvet drives - props are 16x15 3 blade cupped I took a screen-shot of the prop size chart from John's website before it went down. Will try to upload or link it to the forum ...

Re: Potting Compound Melting
Thanks everyone for your help! This forum is awesome. BigM Found an ICM and ballast resistor at a nearby O'Reilly Auto Parts store and installed them this afternoon. Fired up the boat and she's as happy as can be. Will hang onto the old parts as emergency spares for now. Happy boating this 4th of Ju...

Re: Potting Compound Melting
Just double checked the boat and it's definitely coming from the icm not the voltage regulator.
Is there a difference between the marine icm and automotive? Local auto parts store has one for $40 but I see it is over $100 at hurrikain marine.
Thanks for your help!

GB49-
Where do you recommend purchasing this unit and what terminology did you use? Some people call this thing the Ignition Control Module, I've heard others call it the Engine Control Unit and Engine Control Module or just the ignition module.
Thanks...

Potting Compound Melting
The potting compound (yellow goo) on the back of my ICM/ECU started to melt and drip down onto the bell housing during my last boat ride. Engine temp normal on the gauge. It was a hotter day than usual for us...we are typically in the mid 70s but that day was 80s. My engine hatches are aluminum and ...

cabin windows leaky
Our sliding cabin windows drip and leak quite a bit when it rains or when there's a lot of spray from the waves. Anyone have solutions for this? Original plastic window tracks are in decent shape but I think the polyglide strips were removed at some point.
