For anyone interested a1975 37' is listed on ebay by BoatAngel. Bidding started at $800 and it has several days remaining. It is located near Washington DC. Looks like it was used recently as pictures show it full of personal items. (Junk) This could be a great deal for someone on the east coast.

They have a spring cushion that can eventually go bad. The warranty from most rebuilders requires they get replaced when a rebuilt trans is installed. My port trans is original with 1400 hrs and flexplate is just fine. I see no reason to replace it unless it gets noisy.

Try replacing the distributor cap. I have had similar problem and that was the culprit. Moisture gets under the cap and then turns to vapor when it gets hot.

Wally, I am familiar with your boat. I have friends that were 2 slips away from hoohaah at the Silver Sands Marina at lake of the ozarks. Stock velvet drives are only rated for 325 hp. Some modification on your transmissions would be necessary for that much horsepower.
