Exhaust Manifold Options?
Apparently i didn't get all the water out of on of my manifolds when pulling the engine out for rebuild over winter. Nothing like adding insult to injury. Anyone know where to get a used or reasonably priced exhaust manifold for a 1987 318?

Re: Mildew removal
I've used hydrogen peroxide for mold cleanup in residential cleaning. Not sure how the works on Teak. Has anyone tried using peroxide? On drywall it disintegrates the mold.

Re: Oil Filter Adapter plug?
Thank you EWRice for the confirmation and piece of mind! This is my second go at replacing the motor I was hoping this wasn't something I over looked on the previous motor that broke a valve that destroyed the piston in cylinder 1. Is it safe to assume that other oil passage plugs that come installe...

Re: Broken valve new engine
Thanks for the info, I will check that on the next engine. And yes that is the reverse rotation engine. This really stinks as I am not getting re-embersed for the labor, good times! This sucks as this was not a small job as you know!

Re: Broken valve new engine
Well after taking the head off it wasn't the valve. It turns out the valve dropped into the cylinder and destroyed the piston. I have to pull the engine and ship it back. At least Rapido Marine is going to send me a new long block to replace what I have but I will need to do the labor. When I pulled...

Broken valve new engine
So I have this newly rebuilt 318 engine/longblock form Rapido Marine and I am at about 10ish hours and I heard a noise that turns out to be a broken valve. Fortunately it didn't drop in the cylinder and destroy the engine. Now I may be faced with sending the head back to them. Alternatively I am won...

318 Timing?
I have managed to get my first marine engine swap under my belt. Thanks to several question answered here. I have the engine running and I rotated the distributor until I got the engine starting easy and sounds good (also got rid of the white smoke from exhaust). However I was wondering what should ...
