Re: Drive Savers

They are expensive but shop around. I found some places wanted twice as much as some others. --Ed

Re: Main Station Lower Helm Restoration nearly complete...

Didn't know that they had a method to their madness when they made them. I just like it on the British side, that's what I'm used to.--Ed

Re: reverse rotation engines

The special starter spins the engine the other way, then the pistons come up to top dead center on the compression stroke in the reverse firing order, so then the firing order on the distributor is in the reverse order even though the rotor spins in the same direction. So it runs the other way. If y...

Looks really nice but the helm is on the wrong side. Or did you reverse the negative?

Re: Swim platform paint

I think that powder coat would be the most durable if you can do it. Imron was just the first two part polyurethane, I think you will find there are better and much cheaper ones now. Re: Windshield Wiper Motor

I got one off the shelf at my local NAPA which stocks a lot of boat parts. So they are still being made and easily available. I had to get the longest shaft they had, and it was still barely long enough. Message me if you can't find one.--Ed

Re: Packing Boxes

Would not even consider removing the struts unless you have to remove them for some other reason. This is one of the easier, simpler jobs. Just have the boat up high enough you can get under it safely. If it is on a trailer you can drop the tongue down to raise the stern. Jack stands are not safe en...

Re: Cutlass Bearing Size

Mine are 1 inch shafts ( part named BETTY ) easy way to measure is grab a 1 inch open end wrench and see if it fits the shaft. If you don't have a 1 inch, then use a Crescent wrench and adjust it to be snug. Then measure the wrench.

I have boat insurance with Progressive, they're good and I would recommend them. You might call 1-800-876-5581 and ask about the shirts. Flo will help you out.

Re: Source for 5/8" starboard marine anti slip

I am very happy having aluminum on my deck. Can't find the pictures I have of the deck, but you can see some of it here. Mine is one big piece which makes it hard to remove, so I would recommend installing it in a couple of pieces.
