Re: A little crazy?

Love to see some photos of this installation.

PS: Just recently I watched an old Carver struggling like mad to get on plane as it crawled across the Chesapeake Bay. By comparison, my old 32 footer jumped on plane at half throttle. Hell of a boat!

Re: Fresh water strainers

Watch out! Something like that cost me a good motor (and $4,000). It's imperative that you remove (from the motor) and test your high temperature switches (one wire) every year or so, for if they fail.... All you need is a bucket of boiling water and a voltmeter; the circuit closes at ??? degrees. J...

Re: Tappet adjustment

Check the advancement set up in the distributor. They are notorious for sticking and messing up the timing of the engine.

No valve adjustment on 318s and 360s.

Re: Overcharging alternator

I stupidly didn't know they were different and ran mine assbackwards for years without a problem (and it was a higher then normal amperage one as well).

Re: Coupler Alignment - Vibration

You could add a nice big "S" to where the straps should go.

Re: One wire alternator

Now, don't tell anyone this, but I stupidly used the wrong directional fan alternator on mine for years with no problems. I know--that shouldn't work, but...
