My 29 on the Market

It is with regret I have listed my 29 Sedan with a broker. I love this ole girl and she is solid and has been reliable. Age and some health issues (advanced arthritis and back surgeries) is making it difficult to enjoy her like I use to. It is a comfortable cruiser and would make anyone a happy camp...

Re: Replacing 2 Chysler 318's

Opinions will cover the gambit on this subject. Ask yourself.... Are you in this Yacht for the long haul ? ( 15+ years ) Rebuilds for short term are generally a reasonable solution however you must be prepared to replace ALL the stuff on the rebuild. Carb, fuel etc. I have owned mine now for 15 year...

Re: Bow seating

Each state's regulations vary on this issue. Most deal with it in their definition of "Careless Operation" State Law can be more restrictive than Federal Regulations. Generally speaking vessels which have rails and hand holds are considered being designed for occupants while underway. Now ...

Re: Not even sure how to ask about this...

USCG has used aluminum Cutters for years. (the 41 is a classic example) in coastal areas.
Also Commercial oil rig service boats/commercial fishing boats aluminum rule. They all use the same aluminum that is used in our Big M Hulls!

Proper maint. anode protection is the key.

Re: Engine Drain Plugs

Ok folks, my winterization for engines... ... And please tell me if I've been lucky or this is an OK process..... ( raw water engines - with engines warm and OFF...) - pull drain plugs on engines (inboard side) and drain. Replace plugs. They're brass and haven't teflon coated since 2010. No leaks n...

Re: Engine Drain Plugs

This question comes up every season and for good reason. First and preferred method to winterize your engines. 1. Remove manifold and block drain plugs. Use a wire to insure that they are not clogged with mud, sand, rust etc; 2. Re-install plugs 3. Remove thermostats and re-install housing (this is ...

Re: Engine stalls after getting to temp

Ok as I understand it is always the Port Engine?

Next time switch STB Coil with Port (do this from a cold start up) see if the Port continues to run and the STB drops.

Running Pertronix Dist. for 7 seasons no issues and NO resistor.

Re: Boat in the wet, but shafts won't drip

I had a simular problem years ago with GFO packing. I finally went to 2 rings and have had no problems for 10 years maintaining a drip rate.
The GFO can run with very little drip and still run cool.

Re: Solar panels & house bank

I built a Solar setup for a video camera . I used a Renogy 100 watt panel and a Mourning Star Controller. Now the reality is... At peak sun which is 4-6 hrs per day... max. output of a 12 volt panel is only 5 amps! This works great for low draw devices such as LED lights and in my case a 1 amp draw ...
