Re: 360 Timing Marks
Wire brush the loose dirt and rust from the marks and put white out or soapstone in the marks. Don't know what marks are on the dampener, I have Chevy engines and the Chilton's I have does not say. Might look in a Motors manual. Or put the piston at TDC and see what mark lines up.

First thing I would do is change the coil if you have no spark. Very easy to see if the distributor is turning. Pull the cap and crank it over and see if the rotor goes round. Good luck, Ed

Yes, I agree. Just yesterday had a fishing boat with 3 sodium vapor flood lights on. They have flood lights to work all night. Could see him in bright sunshine 5 miles away.- Ed

Re: Spot light
I agree, not a real necessity, old one got broken and can't get parts, so just put a whole new one on. Stays light up here until 10 pm or so, and I should be tied up by then. Want the light mostly to be seen by other boats. --Ed

Does anyone have a spotlight/ searchlight that has a remote control? What batteries do you use???????? I got a new one with no batteries and no instructions ( E-Bay ! ) It takes 2 short fat batteries of some kind. About 1 inch long. Of course it won't work without the remote. Thanks, Ed

Re: No oul pressure reading at either helm
No, don't even think about messing with the oil filter with the engine running. Just change it with the engine off.(and never disconnect the battery with the engine running ) Just a few bucks, but that is not your problem. Most of the oil from the pump goes through the pressure relief valve and not ...

Re: porthole
You might look on the computer for a new one and get some idea how they are put together. Some glues will soften with heat, so you might try a hairdryer to heat it up first.--Ed

Re: Welding/ Alloy type.
The skin is 5086, extrusions for the stem and keel are something else. 5086 is hard to find, mostly 6061 is used, and the filler wire for a MIG gun is different like Jeff says. Here might be a pic of what I did. Strong enough to pick the boat up using the eye.

Re: Handling around the dock
Cruise ship here made the news, and 3 million in damages to the dock. Also big gash in the hull of the vessel. So we aren't the only ones having a hard time.
So the moral of the story is don't go too fast and don't be afraid to go around and try again.--Ed
