Re: Packing Gland Hose Replacement

I think I used 1 7/8" hose on mine. 2 clamps on each side of the hose.

Re: Soliciting advice on how to pull my engines.

A sky track with a 1/2 ton hoist on the end of the fork works beautifully. As long as your doors open wide enough. Otherwise I use a small steel, collapsible A frame that I can tear down into 5 easy to handle pieces.

Re: Bimini for sale

The frame is 90 inches between mounting points. However I would say you could add or subtract up to 6 inches from that without stressing the frame or making it look funny. After looking at new tops, I see they range from $100-$375 depending on brand. I am thinking $150 for this one including the boo...

Re: Re-power 318 to 360

As a complete replacement engine, they are direct replacements. Starters and all accessories will know no difference. If you can find complete running engines it is an easy swap. If you are marinizing truck motors or using long blocks, you will run into 3 differences Flywheel (balance, not diameter ...

Bimini for sale

I've decided that I have no use for my Bimini top anymore. If anybody is interested, pm me and make an offer. Came off of my 1972 32' express flybridge. Aluminum frame, dark blue canvas, includes zip up storage cover. Good shape, I just don't use it and I don't want to store it. Located on the west ...

Re: keel fin

I would suspect that they stitch welded the outer keel to prevent it from warping bad.

Also, if that keel was not there, I bet that boat would be a bear to manuver at low speeds, and even a light wind would send you off course.

Re: Removing Rear Rail

For anybody that does remove their railing, and has a sedan with the built in door, I would be interested in the door and all the hardware to mount it.

Re: 318 stroker motor 330 HP 349 cu.in.

Mechanical advance is the primary method of spark control for (almost) all engines. The only exceptions I have seen are engines designed to run at one speed, ie generators. Vacuum advance is a supplement to mechanical advance to gain economy under varying loads at a given rpm, ie pulling a trailer u...

Re: MerCruiser Repower question

Naval engineering is one of the most fascinating subjects for someone interested in modifying boats in any way. When I was just out of high school, and starting my Thompson project, my parents bought me a book, Inboard Motor Installations, by Glen L. Witt/Ken Hankinson. Although a bit dated, and a c...
