Paint Stripper
As I begin my repainting project, I am removing hardware and realizing how many layers of paint are actually there. Has anyone used Aircraft Paint Stripper on their boats? From what I am reading this is the easiest way to remove paint from aluminum.

Re: Stantions and railing mods
I decided to go ahead and cut out the section on the port side. I will mill out the new caps before I weld them in for extra heavy hinges. I will take some pictures as I go. I am still looking for the rectangle stanion bases if anybody has any. I am also looking for a few of the angled round aluminu...

Re: Stantions and railing mods
What you did is exactly what I was planning on doing. I plan on welding a plug in the cut ends and installing a hinge to flip the railing up onto itself. Are your stantions aluminum or stainless?

Stantions and railing mods
I am just starting my cosmetic repairs on the 72 express. I am looking for a few spare rectangular aluminum stantion bases for the railing around the stern and flying bridge. I am also curious to hear from those that have an opening in the railing at the transom. I want to cut a section out between ...

Re: Stress cracks ???
The only time I have seen so called "stress cracks" in a metal hulled boat was when the hull was allowed to get substantial amount of water in it that froze solid over the winter. That was on a Roamer but I was amazed at how many welds were cracked. They decided to cut her up after that.

You should have Velvet Drive 72C transmissions (or 10-18 in certain literature).shade2u2 wrote:Would my 1986 39 with Crusader 454's have this tranny?

Re: Question to owners about your 32' FB Sedan
Be careful comparing trawlers to Marinettes. That is like apples to marshmallows. Completely different hull designs and purposes. A trawler will have a displacement or semi-displacement hull that will be very fuel efficient close to its rated hull speed with a lower power engine. Marinettes are cons...

Re: Burgundy paint
Depending on the age and amount of fading for the paint you want to touch up, it is going to be difficult to find a match. Chances are it is no where near the color it was new. I took a sample of my blue paint to a local automotive/industrial paint speciality store. They worked their magic and came ...

Re: Thermostat Housing
I should have one for you. I will check the parts dept. tomorrow morning. If the ones I have are questionable, I know I can still get them from one of my suppliers.
