Gotta say it: The first and ONLY time I used our alcohol stove it nearly set the curtains on fire. A storage area now resides where it used to be.

Just went through that with Mr Port. In its case, a plug wire (or two) was bad. (And when I changed the wires, one lead fell off. Doh!) Here's what to do (and it won't be pleasant): Run the boat hard, then shut the motor down as fast as possible--NO idling allowed! Then, soon as it cools down, pull ...

You might have a collapsed exhaust hose. I've seen them where the outside looks just fine, but a layer of hose inside is blocking the flow. If that's it, you can visualize water and exhaust backing up, then blurping by in a burst of flow.

When I replaced mine, I used a wooden stick (and some math) to determine the fuel level. I then set the gages on 'E' with about 15 gallons of fuel left in the tanls.
Why? Have you ever been stuck with a car, at night, in a strange place with the gage nearing 'E'?
