Re: I am probably going to sell my 37 over the next year

Hang in there. Boat prices are way down and gas prices are getting better. I only have three boats.

Re: curtain clips

Sailrite is the place. I used the clips which were pre-mounted on cloth tape which could be sewed to the top of each curtain. I needed a complete set and had no old curtains to use as a guide. The runners were still in and careful measurements were made and I found a great seamstress. I still need a...

Re: advance springs

This is an early draft of an article I posted on the old forum Assume the word “about” in front of each measurement given. NEW PLUG AND PLAY SPRINGS The replacement Prestolite springs that I ordered arrived and looked good.. The flyweights had a .025 wire diameter., outside diameter of .250 and were...

Re: Aluminum Trawler

I got a 28 ft single engine sedan (no flybridge) which I got running and stored up on lake superior. Originally I thought it would make a good loop boat. Since then I bought and restored a 32' twin flybridge sedan and keep it on lake michigan. The 32' would be very expensive to do the loop in. The 2...

Re: Bathroom & Plumbing System

If you have an original aluminum holding tank get rid of it. Uric acid eats right through it. Also use clean water to test an old or rebuilt system.

Re: Bathroom & Plumbing System

I have two systems. My 1988 has a toilet with a built in 9 gal tank. It is fed from the water system. It has two outlet hoses. One to a macerator pump. Another small hose to an overflow connection in the hull. The macerator pump grinds up the stuff in the toilet tank and discharges through a hose in...

Re: LM 318 carburetors - Rochesters

I bought three books on rochester carbs. Studied them carefully and found a lot of rebuild videos on-line. Then I went around to all the motorheads and part shop employees asking about local mechanics that rebuild carbs. I found a guy who rebuilt mine for $75 apiece plus parts with a one day turn ar...

Re: Chrysler Electronic ignition woes......

I got extra reluctor sets from EBAY. Those little pins are tricky and easy to lose. I got spares at Fastenal and promptly lost them. I am committed to the prestolites cause I know how to replace the springs and free up the weights. When I replace them it has to be an entirely electronic system with ...

Re: Electrical Inspection Checklist

For less than $5 you can buy a used copy of "Your Boat's Electrical System" by Conrad Miller. This is the correct vintage book for your boat. I have both the 1973 and 1988 versions. I made the dual purpose testing light described in that book. The wiring just looks complicated. It runs fro...

Re: New sliding door hardware

I had to take my "patio" doors out to fix them. Mine have an adjustment screw that move the whole bottom frame up and down. I had to unscrew a lot of metal door framing to get them out. Once out I was able to soak the parts with break free oil. The mech is a wedge and bolt - very heavy dut...
