Re: What is special paint, what does special paint have

DANGER WILL ROBINSON.

I agree. The post is very suspicious. It is illogical and the grammar and syntax are poor.

Re: Stress cracks ???

I agree, it sounds like they mean there were defects in the original welds.

This is why a report from good marine surveyor who is familiar with aluminum boats is helpful. I remember mine going over the welds.

Re: Stress cracks ???

Um, yeah dude. Like the hull got sooo stressed when it hit that bridge pier so we welded it man. . .

Or. .

Oh Boy! All the stress cracks are welded! Maybe they replaced the seacocks with carburetors too! It makes about as much sense.

Re: BALLAST in the stern of 39 Sedan

Update: My uncle tells me his 1970-71 28' came with sandbags to cure a list. (He bought it from the original owner who moved up to a bigger boat shortly after getting the BigM.) He and his brother decided lead slabs were a better solution. Although his 28 had twins and a generator, it did not have t...

I would take it out and see what happens. Of course you need a place to store it while you figure thi...

Wow! Great work.

I assume you've checked the rudders and bushings--think you said that--but have you also thought about putting in a rudder angle indicator? You can get by without one, but there have been times . . .

Re: Boating checklist

Doubt you could really move any BigM with paddles unless you were using them as poles. In the Ohio? Fugedabowedit.

Re: V drive question

The only BigMs that (to my knowledge anyway) came with v-drives are the houseboats (a/k/a "river cruisers"). With a V-drive the front of the engine faces the stern so the output shaft faces forward. The actual v-drive has an input shaft on top mated to the engine/transmission and the outpu...
