Re: Exhaust hose advice

If flooding's a possibility, how hard would it be to plug the opening on the outside during repairs?

Re: trim tabs

My favorite response: what does the mfr say when you inquire? Post that advice here (I know, I know, it's easier to ask us to guess). Seriously, some of the tech depts I've encountered are very helpful

Re: Perko 299 separator disassembly

It's usually clamped to a cymbal stand near at hand. Liquids of dubious origin are poured into the top and periodically the drain is opened with the purified effuluent liquid going into a purloined cup. Fortifies one to get past some singers and trombone players

..PS: The handsome dude on the end is our Joel. I don;t know much about the handsome part but we were loud. I had forgotten about that gig. Circa 2010/11, NY eve party at a $3mill mansion in Potomac MD. Home of a voice teacher who built a performance room for her students to resemble the Parthenon....

Re: 1984 360 Water Pump

I believe that my water pump was rebuilt about 4 years ago by the previous owner. How frequently should these be rebuilt? Is it a Sherwood pump? Thank you for your help. Rebuild frequency depends on wear. But In my boat's nearly 20 yr association with me, only one pump had to be replaced, neither w...

Re: Anode advice

You're on the right path. Anodes are not worn past 50% (and recall that when mine did get worn, I put two worn ones together to equal one solid one. I don't think you need to drill more holes. Clean the keel behind the anodes (no paint) and bend them outward just a tad so when you tighten the bolts ...

Re: Perko 299 separator disassembly

Disagree just a bit, Jeff. You are spot on that it is a separator (and I think a very good one) but it does prevent some particles from getting into the line as well. I saw that every time I emptied the canister into a glass jar. That said, the filter Jeff proposes (and had on his boat) is very usef...

Re: Hull Preparation & Painting

You're asking too much of paint. It's not there to protect a very exposed surface (and a pointy one at that) from beachings. Either accept that running the boat onto land will scour the surface or find a product (they are out there) to cover the keel. Bottom paint exists to thwart algae and critters...
