Re: Heads for a 318
I found out that the 318 head I've found is off of a 72 1/2 ton dodge pickup. Head has been pulled and I've ask them to get me the casting number in hopes that one of you guys can tell me if this particular head will work. Jeff, you had mentioned that the marine head has tiny exhaust ports. Can you ...

Re: Heads for a 318
Found a head today that came off of a 1972 Dodge pickup that should match fine. Salvage yard tells me the truck was running two years ago when it hit the lot, been sitting since. 45 minute drive and they should have it pulled off tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Heads for a 318
Eric, The heads I have on now we're just completely rebuilt, new push rods, lifters, etc. starboard head is the one that cracked and I'm hoping to find a single head and rebuild with the new parts that I've already paid for. I had seen your past post on the 302 castings and would like to go in that ...

Heads for a 318
Morning all, I recently had the heads reworked on the single 318 in my 1972 28' Express and find that the Starboard head is leaking water at the rear exhaust port. It seems the machine shop, in order to remove a warp from a previous overheating, milled the max of 20,000 off the head, and when it was...

Re: Prop change
I haven't installed the 14 x 11 yet as have other problems at present with my motor. One damn thing after another. I'm about to start another post in order to try and find a set of heads for my 72 318.

Re: Prop change
Many thanks for all of the responses re the 11 pitch prop for my 1972, 28' single 318. It is my intention to never run my 45 year old engine at wot. I'm a 72 year old cruiser who knows how it feels to be over worked. Barkley Daves advice that he re-proped to an 11 pitch and gained 4 mph is exactly w...

Prop change
Having run aground last week while motoring around in the dark, I find I'm about to have to change my prop. I have a single 318 in my 72, 28' express and am currently running a 14 x 10 prop. I have the original delivery sheet on the boat and this is the same pitch prop that was delivered on the boat...

Re: Painting with Imron Paint
Dave, Thanks for the good information. My friend went for a sea trial yesterday but, I was unable to go. One of the 318's would not crank so the sale is on hold pending mechanical work. Owner is advertising that "new" engines were installed in 1999 but not sure if these were crate or rebui...

Painting with Imron Paint
I have a friend who's in negotiations with the owner of a 1966 Pluckenbaum 16' x 44' Aluminum Houseboat. The interior has been stripped with the exception of engines, drive trains, gauges etc. the exterior was just recently painted at the Sunstar Houseboat factory with Imron paint and the exterior o...
