It is located at the top front of the engine right in front of the carb. Pull the hoses off, and remove the bolts. You may need to tap it with a hammer or such to get it to pop free. There should be a gasket there also.

Are the grommets are going to seal in place of the oil fill half turn? They will probably have to be quite thick. Should work if they are

If my memory is correct, the pump will unbolt from the mounting bracket. Doesn't matter when you remove hoses, before or after, whichever is easier. I believe the part number was a 10615K, sherwood impeller, but I could be wrong on that, and everything else.

Both have good advice. It also helps to take a sharpie and mark "top" on top of the pump before removal. It saves a lot of headaches down the road.

Unless you have the dripless kind, a proper packing will let water in bilge while underway, the water lubricates the packing. While at the dock, you should have a drip every 5 to 10 seconds. It is one of the drawbacks, you always have water in the bilge.
