Re: Exhaust manifolds
I had all new parts and put silicone to seal them , a mistake on my part, you should install as per manufacture's instructions. These parts have milled surfaces that you cannot see with the factory paint on. Once the paint is removed as per instructions you can see the milled grooves. This is why th...

Re: Exhaust manifolds
The water in the exhaust where the brass plugs is not normal. I installed the risers ond with silicone sealant. I looked up the recomendations from osco they say do not use silicone or you can have leaks. I removed the sealant as well as the paint installed new gaskets dry and have no issues. My sec...

Exhaust manifolds
I just installed new manifolds risers and elbows on a 1980 with chrysler engines I pulled the brass plugs fron the bottom of the logs.
All were dry except the two near the risers. These had water in them #8 and #7. Is this normal?
Thanks
Bob

Re: Chrysler marine replacement distributors
The chrysler 318 uses the same dist on both engines, There is no such thing as a reversing dist for these engines. They are a little more expensive then chevy's. Stuff for these engines are getting expensive since they stopped making the 318. The firing order is different and a spacer is user on the...

Re: Replacing cutlass bearing
When I changed mine I cut through it with a hack saw and carefully peeled it out with a chisel makeing sure not to cut the aluminum strut, I cleaned up the strut and then epoxied the new one in . Make sure your new one is non metallic. I pressed the new one in after epoxy with a threaded rod and lar...

Re: Chrysler marine replacement distributors
What doesn't seem possible?
I know I searched every distributer manufacturer and there is only one distributor for a chrysler small block, reguardless of the rotation!
I wasted a lot of time trying to find a reversing distributor, ( there is no such thing for a small block chrysler)!

Re: HELP!
That pully looks like it is pressed on you need to remove the entire pump from the engine. If you are just changing the impeller there is no need to remove the pully. The pump still needs to be removed from the engine. I replaced my bearing on my water pump it was difficult to press the pully off. T...

Re: Pertronix Distributor Test
Dave are you in salt water? I am in salt water if I don't sand the rust off of the parts things get stuck. The only thing on my pertronix distributors that does not rust is the springs. Every thing else needs regular attention to keep my distributors rust free. I spray them with a rust preventitive ...
