They are both the same distributors, they both spin the same way.The firing order is differend on each motor. I had a similar problem it turned out to be the wire from the ignition switch to the gauges .It only did the stalling when hot. Two times I had this issue on both motors. Mine did the same thing, I sprayed electronic cleaner in the switch. Its working fine now. Let the cleaner dry before starting it is very flammable.
If that doesn't work you need to replace the switch.

Mine were worse than that. I even sprayed them with boeshield corrosion inhibitor before the start of last season,Didn't do much at all.
I am guessing I need to sand and oil on a regulator basis to keep rust off.

Pertronix does not have felt below the rotor.
Mine were rusted enough that the weights didn't return after start up, this caused the boat to not start again.
I had to take the distributors apart and sand all of the rust off and lube all of the parts.
Sent email to Pertronix and got no response.
