Real question should be, will it really help? I think if your not running WOT and not going to redo the whole top end, you may better spend your cash upgrading the ignition to burn hotter and maybe newer (jetted and tuned) 1409 carbs. I like the Interstate batteries as well. I have also had good luck with Napa high end batteries. On the 1:1 Velvet Drive the only difference is rotating the pump housing. You will see an arrow on the cover that when up denotes which way it should be rotating.

I found a very neat idea when I pulled my starboard deck. It was glued down with pieces of 3M double sided tape. Not solid, but enough to hold it down. maybe a 2 or 3 inch piece every 2.5 to 3 feet. I thought this was way better than the port side which has screws I am going to have to get out !! :(...

If you are willing to take a 5K write off on the boat, you should list it for that on CL and just donate the cash. You may be able to squeeze a few more K out of it if the boat is all there.
