Re: Mercruiser 305
Eric, I agree on the 327's. I want to repower my 78 28' express with a GM simply for parts availability. I really would like a 327 for some reason even though it isn't period correct. Probably has something to do with a family friend we had when I was growing up, he had a 30' Chris Craft Catalina wi...

Re: Bow Eye on a 28'
Anyone see a problem with using some hardwood, redwood or cedar for the backing plate, then the large washer plate that comes with the eye, then nuts on the inside of the boat?

Welding/ Alloy type.
I am thinking about having a bow eye welded onto my 1978 28 express for trailering. Not sure I want to drill holes in the front end for the bolt through style if I don't have to. I want to quiz the guy I may have weld it as to if he knows proper technique for this alloy but I can't seem to find the ...

Re: Chrysler 440 haul out HELP!!
Growing up we had a steel houseboat with the engine located about 10 feet from the transom, we fabricated a boom out of 4" square steel tubing and fitted it to the bucket of a skid steer. then you just need a steady operator on the skid steer and it's easy from there. Just remember that the end...

Re: fridge removal?
Thanks for the replys guys. I am probably going to fix what I have, it works fine on 120v. My guy says he can probably fix the 12v side cheaply and easily. He said lots of times the noise is just the rubber mounts on the compressor. He figures maybe 50 bucks in labor plus parts. We'll see what he ha...
